Book Reviews

Stepping Heavenward

It is one girl's journey to Godliness.

A fictional diary from the point of view of a Christian teenage girl who is hot-tempered and over analytical.

How she is saved and soon realizes at the end of the book "Not till I was shut up to pray and to study God's word by the loss of earthly joys, sickness destroying the flavor of them all, did I begin to penetrate the mystery that is learned under the cross. And wondrous it is, how simple it is ! To love Christ and to know Him- this is all ! "

One thing I really like in the book is the many conversations she has with her father-in-law, showing him the freedom we can have in Christ. We do not have to stand guilty before God, we can turn to Christ who has paid the penalty for our sins.

This is a book every woman, young or old, can enjoy, relate to, and glean encouragement from.

There are  many ways that I can relate to Katherine's journey and each time I read it I relate to something new. So many treasures of faith to glean from this book!

Always add, always walk, always proceed; neither stand still, nor go back, nor deviate; he that standeth still proceedeth not; he goeth back that continueth not; he deviateth that revolted; he goeth better that creepeth in his way than he that moveth out of his way.” - Augustin.
