Hello Sparks! Today, we are going to be going on an out of this world adventure! Do you love all the colors in the galaxy? If so, you will love this Spark! In this Spark, we're making some Galaxy themed desserts. Along with the idea will be a recipe.
So, let's get on our aprons and start baking!
Galaxy Ice Cream Sandwiches
Don't you love the look of this sandwich from a bajillian recipes? I LOVE how the inside looks like a galaxy and I also like the chocolate on the outside.
Ingredients
18 whole graham crackers
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
8 ounces cream cheese softened
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla
2 cups heavy cream
Food coloring black, pink, blue, and purple
1 (12 oz) bag purple candy melts*
3 Tablespoons coconut oil
Sprinkles

Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with plastic wrap, leaving a good amount of overhang on the sides. Break the graham crackers in half and arrange them on the bottom of the pan. To solve the issue of extra space on the side, use a ruler as a "receding wall" underneath the plastic wrap along with a freezer-safe item that'll fit behind it. I used five fun-sized Butterfinger chocolate bars. Click on the link for more in-depth instructions.
In the well-chilled bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat together sweetened condensed milk, cream cheese, and vanilla until smooth. Add in heavy cream and beat on high until mixture is light and fluffy.
Divide ice cream among four bowls and dye each separately to desired shade.** Plop spoonfuls of each colored ice cream randomly over the graham crackers until you've used them all up. Use a knife to swirl the colors together, then smooth out the top. Arrange the remaining graham crackers on top. Wrap the plastic wrap over the ice cream sandwiches and freeze for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Once ice cream sandwiches have frozen solid, remove from the pan and unwrap the plastic wrap. Using a sharp, warm knife, cut the sandwiches along the graham cracker edges, making 15 squares and 5 small rectangles. Place sandwiches on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and return to the freezer to firm up for 20 minutes.
Prepare a second baking sheet by lining it with wax paper. Melt the purple candy melts with the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave until smooth. Pour the sprinkles into a separate bowl.
Working quickly in batches of 3-4, dip sandwiches halfway into candy melts, then into the sprinkles, and onto the second baking sheet in the freezer. Repeat with the rest of the sandwiches. Once the coating has set, ice cream sandwiches can be individually-wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Galaxy Milkshake
Isn't this milk shake from Tastemade out of this world? I LOVE the colors blended together. This one is also pretty easy to make so lets get baking!
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
3/4-1 cup milk
Pink, purple and blue food coloring
Whipped cream
Pink, purple and blue sprinkles
Expand The Recipe
Divide the ice cream and milk into 3 equal portions.
Pulse together 1/3 of the ice cream and milk a time in a blender, adding a drop of either pink, blue or purple food coloring.
Layer the 3 colors in tall glasses.
Using more milk will create a swirly pattern, while less milk will create more distinct lines between the colors.
Top with some whipped cream and sprinkles and enjoy!

Line a square 8×8 baking pan with foil. Spray foil with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
Add chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk to a saucepan and mix constantly over medium-low heat until chips are almost melted. Stir in butter and vanilla and continue to stir and heat until completely melted.
Divide fudge into bowls and color each bowl with food coloring. Drop chocolate into prepared pan, adding random scoops all around. Swirl with a knife. Top with sprinkles. Gently tap pan on the surface so air bubbles come to the top. Refrigerate until firm, about 4 hours.
Remove foil from pan and remove foil from fudge. Place on a large cutting board and using a sharp knife, cut into 16 squares.

Prep Your Cream: Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, whip 2 cups of heavy whipping cream on medium speed until you achieve soft peaks. This means your cream will hold its shape but not too rigidly. Be careful not to over-whip, or you’ll end up with butter!
Mix in the Goodies: Add in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract to your whipped cream. Mix again for about a minute until everything is well combined.
Divide and Color: Divide your ice cream base into four separate bowls. Add a few drops of each food coloring—black, blue, pink, and purple—to individual bowls. Mix until the color is uniform in each bowl.
Layer Your Universe: In your casserole dish or bread loaf pan, lay down your black-colored base first. Then, randomly plop spoonfuls of your other colors on top.
Swirl Time: Take a kebab stick or a spatula and gently swirl the colors together. Don’t overdo it, or you’ll end up with a cosmic mud instead of a galaxy.
Add Some Stars: Sprinkle your sugar crystals over the top to act as stars in your galaxy.
Freeze: Place your dish in the freezer for at least 4-6 hours. For best results, consider making this a day ahead and freezing overnight.
Serve and Enjoy: Once it’s frozen solid, scoop out your galaxy ice cream and enjoy your cosmic creation!

Expand The Recipe
Combine the milk and vinegar in a small bowl.
Place in the fridge for 15 minutes to chill - this makes homemade buttermilk!
Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the butter, sugar, honey, egg and vanilla extract.
Add the buttermilk and mix until combined.
Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined - make sure not to overmix.
Spoon the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe into a greased doughnut pan.
Bake at 400°F for 7 minutes.
Cool for 1 minute in the pan, then flip the pan over to remove the doughnuts and cool completely on a wire rack.
Make the glaze: Whisk together 1 tablespoon half and half cream and the vanilla extract.
Add the confectioner's sugar and whisk until fully combined. If the glaze is too thick, add a dash more whipping cream.
Divide the glaze into 4 bowls.
Leave one bowl white and dye the remaining deep shades of pink, blue and purple.
Dollop the 4 colors into a bowl, swirling them together to create a swirly pattern.
Dunk the doughnuts into the glaze and return to the wire rack.
Sprinkle some edible glitter on top.
Allow the glaze to dry for 20 minutes, and enjoy!
Well! Are you hungry now? I LOVE all of these deserts and would love to know if any of you make them! If you do, add a picture to the comments. I would love to see what you created!
