Day 11: Walking in love

Have you ever lagged behind someone who is faster than you, or had to slow down for someone who is slower than you? The second letter of John talks about walking in love. 

First John talks about walking in love, and then he moves on to warn of those who walk ahead on their own, rather than abide in Christ’s teaching (v.9)

Sometimes, you may be tempted to not abide in Gods teachings because you think you know better, or because you think your way is faster or better.

All the things of this world can distract us from what is true and eternal.  We forget an we wonder off. (Hebrews 13:1-2): There is much to be said about the work of running the race towards Christ, but John tells us to walk in love.

To walk in love means to match up to the love of God. Not lagging behind.  He teaches us how to run the race. In the end and by His grace, may our own lives echo these words: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2Timothy 4:7).
