How to Decorate Your Room for Christmas

The Holidays Are Here!

Yep! You read that right! I still can’t believe Christmas is only weeks away. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about Christmas is decorating. I love the Christmas colors, vibe, and just everything about it. That’s why this article is all about decorating for Christmas. Maybe your parents won’t let you decorate you house, but your room is a space for you!

The first thing I like to do when decorating my room is choose colors. Last year I did the traditional Christmas colors, but this year I am doing a red, white, pink, and teal theme. I thought it would be fun to match the Spark advent Bible study colors.  The first think I put up is my Christmas tree. I like using the mini’s (3ft-6ft). This year, I am using a 4 1/2 ft white Christmas tree from Hobby Lobby.

Honestly, I think the Christmas tree is my favorite decoration. It feels so cozy and bright!

I also like Hobby Lobby décor. Things like banners, blankets, and signs are also fun. This year I am using rainbow lights, and a blanket from there.  I do also like white lights, but I just think the rainbow ones will match my theme.

Another thing I like are plastic candy canes. These are SO awesome. I used some last year, but they will work this year too because they are red and white. I will also be using foam candy from Hobby Lobby. I love how whimsical they are.

Before decorating, I like to get ideas from Pinterest. I make a board to see what colors and themes I like. The photo on the left was one of those pins! I just love the use of teal and red! It is TOTALLY what I am going for.

Now, you might be thinking, but don’t you love DIY? Yes! I do. Let me tell you about that next.

Garlands

I love making garlands. They can be made of jumbo cotton balls. You just use a needle to add the pom-poms on to the string. Then you can hang it up!

Banners

You can make banners with paper, and paints! I had tons of fun with this last year.

Posters + Signs

I also love decorating with posters. Since I love graphic design, I like making these things on Canva. You can choose from millions of cute elements, and infinite color options. Then, you can print them out on Cardstock paper and frame them. You can also make stands for them out of cardboard.
