Life Changes. Your Identity doesn't have too.

I always feel like the world is changing SO much.

The trends are always shifting.

Social media creates new standards that are always changing.

People’s opinion’s about you also change SO much!

Sometimes, in a world that changes so much, figuring out who you are can feel Challenging. It is incredibly easy to let a grade, a friendship status, or a comment of disapproval define your worth. But human opinions chang and shift, and people's expectations change. That is why you have to place your identity in the One who never changes. The truth is simple yet life-altering: The One who created you is the only one who can define you. When you stop looking at the world to tell you who you are and start looking at your Creator, your true identity becomes crystal clear. The turth is, in these moments when we feel like no one agrees with us, or we never “fit in”, we must preach to ourselves, who God says that we are!

First, and foremost,

You Are Chosen and Loved

Long before you took your first breath, God knew you. Ephesians 1:4 reminds us, "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight." You aren't an accident, a mistake, or an afterthought of God. You were intentionally wanted, and created.

And God didn’t create you based on a performance review. He chose you simply because He loves you. In Jeremiah 31:3, He promises, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Often, people’s love can be conditional, changing based on how you look or what you can offer. God’s love is everlasting. There is nothing you can do to make Him love you more, and nothing you can do to make Him love you less.

You Are Forgiven, Redeemed, and Made New

It is easy to carry around the weight of past mistakes, regrets, or labels that other people have placed on you. But God doesn't see you through the lens of your worst moments. Because of Jesus, Ephesians 1:7 and Colossians 1:14 declare that "we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins." You are entirely forgiven. You have been bought back from shame, and your slate is washed completely clean.

You don't have to live in the shadow of who you used to be. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" With Jesus, you get a fresh start every single day. You don't have to live with the baggage, and shame of your past. The old labels don't stick anymore; you are a brand-new creation.

You Are Accepted, Secure, and Fearless

The pressure to fit in and find acceptance can be exhausting.

There always seems to be another standard to fit to!

But, you don't have to change who you are to belong in God's family. According to Ephesians 1:6, He has "freely given us [His grace] in the One he loves." You are already fully accepted by the King of Kings.

Because you belong to Him, your future is entirely safe. Jesus promises in John 10:28, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand." Life will throw unexpected twists and turns your way, but God’s grip on you is tight. Your security is not based on your circumstances; it is anchored in Him.

Knowing who you are changes how you face the world. You don't have to walk through life gripped by anxiety, insecurity, or fear. As 2 Timothy 1:7 boldly states, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. Whenever you feel insecure, lonely, or not enough, look back to the One who made you. You are not defined by the world's standards, or who others want you to be, do, or look like. You are chosen, loved, forgiven, redeemed, made new, accepted, secure, and fearless. Stand tall in that truth today, knowing that your identity is locked safely in the hands of the unchanging God.
