Day 5: Love In Action

Joh learned from the master. He spent years watching how Jesus loved people and his conclusion was: “Let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth” (1John 3:18). The love of Jesus was in action.

Jesus didn’t just wash his feet or heal people. He laid down His life for us. He also said “We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters” (v.16).

Does that sound impossible? Maybe you think, I will love you by cleaning your room or fixing you a snack, but dying for you? no. Remember, when Jesus died for us, we were His enemies. (Romans 5:8) So, shouldn’t we laid down our lives for our brothers and sisters?

Love is hard. Real love means sacrifice. Jesus was the perfect example of love in action for us.

So, how can I follow Christs example? This changes everything: I am Gods child. He calls me to love no matter what time of day it is. When we love, we are loving our of His strength. He enables us to love because He abides in us (John 15).

Christ’s call to love in action comes with a promise that He is with us, even to the very end.
