Hey Girls! I am so exited for todays Spark because to day we are talking Canva Blogs. Do you want to make a blog to publish your stories, recipes, or anything else? Well, maybe the options have been overwhelming. If you want to decide on a platform, check out this blog post about Canva, Wix, and Blogger.
Well, maybe you found Canva to be an easy and free option for you. If so that's great! But there is a darker side. It is really, really hard to have a blog on Canva. Well, today, I want to show you a simple process of adding a Blog to Canva. Its SUPER easy!
Step 1: Make a Website Homepage
This may not be a surprising first step, but you will need to make a home page. Let's make one together with the Callie Bakes website Template. Get if for free here. Scroll down on the page until you find a tab section. On the top will be "Free Canva Templates".
Click "Start editing" on the template you wish to use. Then this will come up. You will now need to click "Edit template".
In this case, we will be using Callie bakes. But choose a template with the colors and layout YOU Like. After that, edit the site how you like it. Make sure to add a blog to the navigation!
Step 2: Activate The Buttons
Now, we will need to get technial. Let's learn how to make a link. Say, I want the Learn more button to go to the blog. Here is how to do that.
First, create a separate website. Make it your blog. Make sure the color theme matches the home page!
Next, Publish the website. There is a button on the side bar. After that, Click on the "Learn more" Text.
After that, a pop-up should come up. Click link.
Now Copy and paste the URL of the website you pulished that is the blog. After that, the button will be underlined.
Thats OK. Click the underlined text and look twards the top of your screen.
Click on the icon with the U underlined. It looks like this: U Now, publish your home page. When people click "Learn more" they see your blog!
Now, you can go through this same process with the blog on the navigation bar and anywhere you want to link to the blog. Repeat these steps for a shop, about or anything else! Just change the web URL.
Step 3: Make a Blog post
Now its time to write a blog post. Be creative! Make it YOU. Start by starting another website. Next design, write, and publish your website!
Step 3: Make a Cover Image
This one is pretty easy. Find a layout for you cover image like Insagram post or YouTube thumbnail. Design it to match your post. Here is an example:
Now Go to the top of the design and click "File"
Now click Download
Then a box on the side will apear. Click PNG. Then download.
Step 3: Publish the post to your blog
Start by inserting your image as the post cover.
Now, link the image to your published post.
Now publish your post! Email your friends and family a link to your blog so they can see your post!
